Both recent versions of Windows and MacOS have support for emojis and a number of commonly used built-in versions. If you want to get emojis on your PC or Mac, now you know how. When you use Message or another app that supports emoji, the Touch Bar fills the icons so you can select them directly. If you have a Touch Bar Mac, you have another option. It can also be activated between apps, allowing you to switch between open apps on your Mac with the character viewer open and insert characters into whatever is currently active. It will remain open for you to select multiple emojis. The Mac version of the emoji keyboard works much better than the Windows version. The corresponding emoji is then inserted into the app that you currently have open and selected. Use the tabs at the bottom to select your category or search if you know what you’re looking for. To open the Character Viewer on Mac, press Control, Command (⌘) and Spacebar to open it. It’s a similar setup to PC, a small window that lets you select emoji and insert them into an open app as you see fit. If you are used to using them on your iPhone, you will find similar versions on your Mac as long as you have the latest OS version installed. Macs also have built-in emojis in newer versions of macOS. Select the emoji button to the left of the space bar. Select the icon and the touch keyboard will appear at the bottom of your screen. An icon will then appear next to the other icons on your clock. If you are using the Windows 10 Fall Creator’s Update, all you have to do is right-click on an empty space on the taskbar and select Show Touch Keyboard button. You can create a shortcut to add to the taskbar to make this easy if you want. Press Alt plus the corresponding number in your keyboard to call one of these lovely emoji.Īlt + 1 brings for example up ☺, Alt + 2 calls ☻ and so on.įinally, you can use the Touch Keyboard feature in Windows 10 to access emoji. You can also use keyboard shortcuts for more basic emojis if you find the new keyboard clunky.
